01 The only question that matters
Every offer in this game is engineered to be tapped in the moment. The defense is a single question, asked before you ever open the store: for this account, at this stage, within this budget — does this purchase create more permanent value than every other thing I could buy instead?
If the answer isn't a clear yes, it's a no. That one habit separates the players who compound power over a season from the ones who spend more and fall behind. Everything below is just that question, applied.
02 The $5-pack rule
// THE GATE EVERY PURCHASE PASSES THROUGH
Smaller packs almost always pay better per dollar than larger ones. The same event that sells an $5 pack for 80 tokens sells the $10 pack for 100 — that's 16 tokens per dollar versus 10. Scaled across a season, buying the small packs and skipping the big ones is the difference between funding one full event and funding half of one.
So before you tap, run three checks:
Do I need this? Not "is it good value" — do I need it, now, for what I'm actually building?
Will it help me win? Permanent power and progression count. A bigger profile number doesn't.
Is the value real? Ignore the 8,000% labels. Divide useful materials by dollars spent, and subtract anything the account can't use yet.
// Ignore the percentage
The giant value labels are the publisher's own comparison math, not your utility. A pack advertised at enormous value is still a bad buy if most of its contents are things this account doesn't need. Permanent Value
03 Four spending paths
There's a right plan at every budget. Find your row and stay in it — the fastest way to waste money is to spend like a path above yours.
| Path | Identity | The plan |
|---|---|---|
| F2P $0 | Wins through discipline, not dominance | One main squad. Hoard event currencies to guaranteed thresholds. Finish every free pass track. Keep a diamond reserve for shields. Accept delayed access to paid weapons. |
| Lifetime ~$1–25 once | A few permanent buys, then back to F2P | Kimberly's starter unlock first, then one critical permanent queue. No monthly habit, no chasing every pass. |
| Budget ~$5–49 / mo | The disciplined monthly spender | One permanent objective, one squad objective, one current bottleneck. Every purchase must serve at least one. Pick a single recurring anchor — don't buy all of them. |
| Spender $50+ / mo | $60 and $600 follow the same order — only the depth changes | Work the permanent ladder top to bottom; only reach the lower, temporary layers once the higher permanent ones are complete. $50+ never means unlimited. |
// The F2P "don't"
Don't split resources evenly across three squads, don't spend every event currency the moment it drops, don't chase leaderboard spots that require money, and don't convert hard-won diamonds into ordinary resources. One excellent march beats three average ones every time.
04 Permanent first — the purchase ladder
Permanent unlocks keep producing value every day for the life of the account. Temporary power disappears at settlement. So the ladder is built permanent-first, and you only climb down into temporary layers after the permanent ones above are done.
| Level | What | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| 0 · Free | Alliance activity, event timing, currency hoarding, one-squad focus, free pass completion, shield discipline | Everyone |
| 1 · Foundation | Kimberly → essential extra building queue → second Tech Center → a Growth Fund if its current contents justify it | Lifetime and up |
| 2 · Utility | A monthly utility pass; four-star Taylor for committed long-term spenders | Budget (selectively) / Spender |
| 3 · Seasonal | Season Pass, early resistance progression, relevant seasonal systems | Budget / Spender |
| 4 · Main squad | Main carry's Battle Pass and Exclusive Weapon, gear blueprints, skill resources for one active carry | Spender |
| 5–7 · Acceleration | Gear/Drone passes on a real bottleneck, guaranteed event thresholds, then second squad and temporary seasonal power | Higher $50+ only |
// On Taylor
Taylor's daily chests compound, and four stars is her real value point — five stars costs far more for modest extra return. She's not for F2P or a one-time lifetime budget; she's optional for a controlled budget spender and strong for a committed $50+ account. Stop at four stars unless you're genuinely high-budget. Permanent Value
// Builders vs. the second Tech Center
The second building queue is high early value. After that, the second Tech Center beats a third or fourth builder long-term — research never stops, while construction eventually completes or runs out of resources. The third builder is situational; the fourth is a high-spender convenience.
05 Best buys & worst buys
// Best
- Legendary gear blueprints from the Honor shop — buy these first, every time. Five legendary prints take a level-40 piece to one star, which outweighs almost anything else those medals can buy.
- Kimberly, then a needed building queue, then the second Tech Center.
- A relevant Battle Pass or Exclusive Weapon — for your main carry only.
- Base skins, especially for F2P — they buff multiple squads and are hard to get any other way.
- Masteries after T10 — large power for minimal resources.
// Worst
- Ceramic and resource-choice chests from the Honor shop — they waste the medals you need for blueprints.
- Weapon shards bought with honor medals — they become easy to get later (HQ31 alone hands out ~150 a week). Don't burn medals on them now.
- Grinding drone parts with medals — a classic regret.
- Generic resource and speedup packs as the goal, and any pass for a hero or system you're not developing.
- Throne of Blood decor and most skill-point buys in the season store — prioritize blueprints and skins instead.
// The one exception on resources
Buy a resource or speedup only when it's the smallest missing input that secures a much larger permanent result — finishing a key research, clearing a reward threshold, completing a critical pre-battle upgrade. Never as the objective itself.
06 Save-cycle discipline
// PATIENCE CONVERTS TO MYTHIC GEAR
The biggest budget mistake is spending on every cycle. The major value events — the bullet event and Ammo Bonanza, the best free-to-play event in the game — come around roughly every four weeks. Don't chase them each time. Bank your bullets, wait, and clear the whole thing in one pass.
| You are | Save for | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Budget spender | ~3–4 months | Complete the full bullet event for roughly half the usual cost |
| Free-to-play | ~9 months (RNG-dependent) | Bank ~700 bullets, clear all 100 levels, take the mythic gear blueprints with no spend |
Lucky rolls shorten the window; unlucky ones extend it. Plan for the safe number and treat luck as upside. The math says you spend half — the behavior is that most players never make it past the first cycle. Be the one who does.
07 Store priorities
Each store rewards a different discipline. The throughline: spend the scarce currency on the permanent thing.
Honor shop
Legendary gear blueprints, first and always. Skip ceramic and the resource-choice chests — they're the trap that drains the medals you need for prints.
Season store
Mythic blueprints and base skins lead. Then God of Judgment for the march-size buff. Skip Throne of Blood decorations and skill points. If you can't reach a guaranteed mythic, a statistical base skin is the better save — it touches every squad.
Black & Glittering Markets
Save toward guaranteed thresholds rather than spending in dribs. The Black Market is also where weapons and dedicated shards become obtainable over time — which is exactly why you don't have to panic-buy them at full price.
Gem & VIP / Alliance / Campaign stores
Gems go to stamina, Advanced Teleports, and drone skill-chip chests — not the resource packs at the top. At VIP 7–10, buying out speedups is strong value. The Alliance store is for construction and tech speedups; the Campaign store is a good place for resources and an excellent one for speedups. Verify In-Game
08 Exclusive weapons — buy now or wait?
Season 1 introduces three Exclusive Weapons on a schedule, each with a seven-day pass carrying the shards to activate it. Patch-Sensitive But the weapons and their materials become obtainable later through the Black Market and seasonal activity — so the seven-day window is rarely make-or-break.
| Weapon | Appears | Buy when |
|---|---|---|
| Kimberly | Week 1 | Kimberly is a primary damage dealer on your main tank squad |
| DVA | Week 3 | Aircraft is your main, or you're committed to the aircraft transition |
| Tesla | Week 6 | Missile is your main, or a genuine missile plan is in motion |
Buy immediately when the hero is your primary carry, near the stars needed to use the weapon, and the purchase fits your budget. Wait when the hero is secondary, you don't run that troop type, or you can't meaningfully develop it yet. Buying all three just because all three appear is not a budget strategy.
09 The Season 1 spend timeline
// WHEN EACH DECISION ACTUALLY LANDS
A week-by-week read on where money does the most good. This reflects the current documented Season 1 structure — treat it as general rotation; your server may shift. Patch-Sensitive
| Window | What's live | Where money helps — and where it doesn't |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-season | Setup | Resolve permanent infrastructure, define your one troop type, stockpile stamina/diamonds/shards/currencies. Don't spend to inflate power before it counts. |
| Week 1 | Resistance pipeline, Kimberly's weapon | F2P runs the resistance pipeline free. Buy Kimberly's weapon only if she's a developed main carry. Don't buy seasonal resources before you know which building is actually limiting you. |
| Week 2 | Mason promotion | Use saved Mason shards and the refunded resources; use Level Swap. Don't panic-buy to force the promotion. |
| Week 3 | Military Bases, Expedition, DVA | Develop the Military Base for your actual main squad. DVA's weapon for an aircraft main only. Hold diamonds for shields and war logistics. |
| Week 4 | Warzone Declaration, City of Apocalypse | Readiness beats decoration here — shields, stamina, troop recovery, main-march combat. Don't buy power just to grow the profile number. |
| Week 5 | Infinite Octagon, Capitol | No mandatory buy. Spend only when the alliance has a defined objective the purchase materially supports. |
| Week 6 | Tesla's weapon | Missile main: consider. Tank or aircraft budget account: skip and pick it up later. |
| Week 7 | Final influence push | Don't exhaust the budget on panic spend unless a defined placement is achievable and leadership is coordinated. |
| Week 8 / Settlement | Resources expire, Season Store opens | Use expiring resources before they convert. Don't spend Season Medals just because the store opened — weigh skins, mythic blueprints, and decorations by real marginal gain. |
// Version notes
The Overlord Training Pass is a later-season (post-S2) product — don't expect it in Season 1. Season 1's gear rolling uses the Roulette, not Spin. Offers vary by server age, so confirm current contents before buying. Verify In-Game
10 The bottom line
F2P wins through discipline. Lifetime spenders buy permanent leverage. Budget spenders fund one focused plan. $50+ spenders expand only after the layer above is complete.
The question is never "is this a good pack?" It's whether, for this account at this stage, the purchase creates more permanent value than every alternative on the table. Ask it every time, and the store stops being a trap and starts being a tool.
