What is it?
Season 1 contaminates the map, and its enemies — zombies, Cursed Elites, Doom Walkers — inflict infection. Virus Resistance is your defense against it, raised through the Virus Research Institute (VRI), research, and Genetic Recombination. Confirmed Mechanic It underpins every PvE event in the season.
When does it happen?
From Day 1 of Season 1, and it never stops mattering — resistance research runs the whole season. Build it early; it gates everything else.
Who can start it?
It’s personal progression — every player builds their own resistance — but it pays off most in alliance rallies, where one high-resistance leader carries the group.
How does it work?
Infection builds in stacks from 0% to 100%, and the penalties ramp at thresholds — 20+ cuts your damage, 40+ raises casualties, 60+ makes troops carry more infection on the march, 80+ can infect enemies even in defeat, and 100 is the maxed, worst-debuff state. Confirmed Mechanic Resistance slows the stacking and decides PvE outcomes. The decontamination protocol is a fixed order: isolate → neutralize → inject cure → monitor → confirm clean.
The rule that changes how you play: resistance beats power in PvE. If your power clears the requirement but your resistance is below it, you’ll likely lose; if your resistance meets the requirement but your power is under, you can still win. Corroborated Strategy
What should I prepare?
Pour early research into resistance, level the VRI, and run Genetic Recombination (Mutant Crystals) from Day 3. Keep a decontamination plan for when stacks climb.
How do we win?
Match your resistance to the target’s requirement before you commit a march. For rallies, the rally leader’s resistance applies to the whole rally — so your highest-resistance member always leads, and everyone else inherits it. Corroborated Strategy
Common mistakes
- Chasing power while neglecting resistance — then losing PvE you “should” win.
- Letting a low-resistance member lead a rally and dragging the whole group down.
- Letting infection stacks climb toward the 100 ceiling, where the debuffs are worst.
Leadership protocol
Designate high-resistance commanders as rally leaders for Crimson Legion and elite clears, and publish a resistance target for each objective so members know the bar. Leadership Protocol
In Season 1 PvE, resistance beats power. A lower-power squad with the right resistance wins fights that a higher-power, low-resistance squad loses. Build resistance first and flex power second — it’s the cheapest edge in the season.
